Important Installation Guidelines for Your Reclaimed Ulin Decking and Flooring

Qualified Installation

Maximum Flooring Area
For flooring installations, do not exceed 40 square meters at once to prevent issues related to expansion and contraction.
Expansion Gaps
Maintain an expansion gap of at least 1cm on both sides (left and right against wall or structure) and recommended the same in front and back for both flooring and decking. For decking, also respect an expansion gap between planks of a minimum of 6mm for narrow planks and 8mm for wide planks.
Proper Fastening
Use appropriate wood screws and pre-drill before inserting the screw to prevent cracking or splitting of the wood. Under no circumstances should nails or nail guns be used in the installation.
Batten and Joist
Ensure that the batten and joist system is of sufficient height to allow proper airflow, as heat buildup can damage the planks. Additionally, the area below where batten and joist are installed should allow for water evacuation to prevent moisture buildup, which can also damage the wood.
Maintenance
Once installed, be cautious with maintenance. For flooring, avoid washing with water, as it can lead to warping and damage. Stains can be challenging to remove from smooth wood and impossible to remove from rustic surfaces.
